故事发生在决定中国历史走向的1949年，恢弘壮伟的三大战役相继落下帷幕，中国人民解放军在四万万人民的支持下取得了解放战争的胜利。共产党邀请国民党代表前往北平和谈，以尽可能减少对百姓的荼毒和伤害。而在和谈的表象下，国军方面则紧锣密鼓备战，企图划江而治，分庭抗礼。位于江西的古城梓溪狼悚山，既是国民党的势力范围，也是一个土匪猖獗的凶险所在。土匪头子贺云峰（朱雨辰 饰）在山头林立的江湖中左右搏杀，风头正劲，在结拜兄弟保安司令郑国忠（林熙越 饰）的支持下更成为不可小觑的一方霸主。意外的邂逅，彻底改变了贺云峰和郑国忠的命运。贺偶然救助了共产党陈子墨（杨雪 饰），由此和郑发生裂痕。 而随着新中国建立后的大势所趋，这些江湖中人都将面临重大的抉择……
