二十年代的上海，柴十七（黎耀祥饰）欠债累累，突然被永业银行主事人「七爷」邓桂婵（胡定欣饰）召见，十七运用其商业头脑摆平银行的挤兑风暴，两人自此演变出非一般的雇佣关系。十七一直获经营酒楼的桂氏一家照顾，千金桂花香（陈晓华饰）重遇求学时期的心上人韦豪（罗天宇饰）；韦豪本是混江湖的杀手，十七却日渐看到韦豪对花香的情意，从反对变成接受。动荡乱世，战火枪炮不断，桂婵接连碰到军政猛人林茂财（萧正楠饰）等神秘对头，将她和十七、韦豪、花香逼上悬崖险境，劫祸连连……
